What a great way to start the new year!
We mixed essential oils into a mixture of shea butter and cocoa butter to make a delicious moisturising cream, and then added demerara sugar to make an invigorating body scrub.
Many thanks to Caroline Atkins for bringing all the equipment and leading us in this fun activity.
This month we learned all about British Sign Language and had a go at some simple phrases. 15 year old Zach was the star as he demonstrated the richness of the language.
What a lovely man! Chelsea Pensioner Brian gave us an entertaining talk about his life and what it was like to live at the Royal Hospital in Chelsea.
Talented woodturner Arthur explained the history of woodturning, demonstrated how to make an ornamental mushroom from recycled wood, and also had a selection of high quality, reasonably priced articles for sale.
We invited our ladies to dress up and treated them to a delicious afternoon tea, complete with sandwiches, homemade cakes and yummy scones. Cream or jam on first....?
An evening of creativity as we had a go at making a hanging window charm. Many thanks to Mrs Potts Place for providing all the equipment and leading us through the activity.
What happens to recycled glass? Can we recycle black plastic trays? Where does our our food waste go? Sarah from Joint Waste Solutions answered all our questions with great enthusiasm.
Our very successful Bring & Buy sale raised over £400 for our charities.
A massive thanks to all the local businesses who set up stall for a lively health and beauty evening at our monthly meeting last night. A large turnout by members ensured a great buzz around the room all evening. It looked and sounded as if everybody, members and demonstrators alike, really enjoyed themselves. We had something to cater for all interests, from podiatry to hairdressing, Clarins and Velvet Rooms beauty, nails and massage, seated yoga and stretchy band exercises. Hopefully everyone went home fitter, calmer, and more beautiful!
A very enjoyable evening - refreshments served by the committee, a quiz to test the brain and a game of bingo to finish off.
