Knitted Camberley map

Inspired by seeing Knitted Llandysul and Knitted Newbury, we decided to knit our own map of Camberley and the surrounding area.

We identified the main buildings that we wanted to include, took detailed photographs and started knitting!

Every one of our 200 members was encouraged to knit at least a few stitches of a background square, and the more experienced members of the craft group concentrated on houses, trees, roads and people.

Then we invited the Mayor of Surrey Heath to unveil it in a short ceremony held in Camberley Town Centre.

In April 2023, Knitted Camberley went on tour!  After previous visits to a Surrey Federation Annual Meeting at Dorking, a Surrey Heath networking lunch, and of course our 10th birthday celebration, Knitted Camberley joined other knitted maps at Wonderwool in Wales.
